Parenthood is the slow work of love. Carol did it well.

Carol Elise "Fauss" Gauker Carol Gauker, 74, of Viborg, formally Yankton, passed away on February 8, 2019 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg, SD. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Riverview Reformed Church in Yankton, SD. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, prior to the service. Carol was born on October 22, 1944 in Fremont, NE to Vernon C. and Ermagrace (Jacobsen) Fauss. She graduated from Watertown (SD) High School in 1962. On January 27, 1964 she was married to Charles F Gauker in a civil ceremony held at the American Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. A second ceremony was held in the Chapel of Hope, Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan on February 1, 1964. Carol and Charlie just celebrated their 55 th wedding anniversary. After marriage the couple lived in Japan, Long Beach, CA, Watertown, SD, Wayne, NE, Riverdale, ND, Yankton, SD (47 years), and Viborg, SD. She was a mother, house wife, real estate agent and a legal secretary. She was a member of Riverview Reformed Church in Yankton, Women of The Moose in Yankton, American Legion Axillary of Hooper, NE. She loved to read and do crafts with her craft club buddies and traveling to spend time with friends and family. Carol is survived by her husband; brothers Clyde Fauss, Phoenix, AZ, and Vern (Vivian) Fauss, Casper, WY; Sister-in-law Janice (Don) Kahle; children, Charlene (Randy) Overgard of Hurley, SD, Charles Brett (Rebecca) Gauker, Stillwater, MN, and Corey Gauker of Yankton; grandchildren, Cody Overgard, Christen Gauker, Charles "Ben" Gauker, and Cole Overgard; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In leu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the family at 44767 287 th St, Hurley, SD 57036
