Deon Lueders, 85,, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

Deon held deeply to the Presbyterian faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

What is held in faith is rarely lost.

Deon Lueders, 85 of Marion, passed away on December 20, 2018 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion under the care of Avera Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 28, 2018 at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Marion. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the church with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 PM. A viewing will also be held at Tieszen Memorial Home on Thursday starting at 4:00 PM. Deon Janese (Lawrence) Lueders was born on July 30, 1933 to Loren Don Lawrence and Imo (Silka) Lawrence in Sioux Falls, SD. On September 3, 1949, she married Dick Lueders in Sioux Falls, SD. Four children were born to couple, Lana (Dennis)Herlyn of Marion SD, Candyce (Jaloy) Gustafson of Poulsbo, WA, Donavon (Laurie) Lueders of Sioux Falls and Kimberlee Baarson of Marion, SD. In 1953, Dick and Deon moved to Bridgewater SD with Lana and Candyce when Dick worked for Northern States Power (Excel Energy). Their son, Donavon was born during this time. In January, 1961 they moved to Marion, SD where Kimberlee joined the family. Deon drove school bus for Marion for many years then was a transporter for the Tieszen Home. Her husband Dick died in 2015. After retirement, Dick and Deon enjoyed motorcycle vacations, traveling to many places in the US. Sewing, knitting, needlework, going for breakfast and bowling were things Mom enjoyed. Her church homes were the Bethel Christian Reformed Church and Emanuel Presbyterian both in Marion. She is survived by her 4 children; Lana (Dennis)Herlyn of Marion SD, Candyce (Jaloy) Gustafson of Poulsbo, WA, Donavon (Laurie) Lueders of Sioux Falls and Kimberlee Baarson of Marion, SD. 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and her coffee friends at Washington Street Apartments. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be directed to The Backpack Program, 4701 North Westport Ave Sioux Falls, SD 57107, in memory of Deon Lueders.
