After a life of love and quiet grace, Carmen Warner, 97, has passed.

Here is a glimpse of the life she lived, in her family's own remembrance.

Carmen entered this world in 1922 — the start of a journey that would span 98 years.

Carmen held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Those who live by belief leave a different kind of mark.

Carmen Warner, 97 of Chancellor, formerly of Holland, MN, passed away on March 30, 2020 at her home under Sanford Hospice Care. A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. Carmen Wilhelmina Warner was born to Hans and Karen (Oren) Hegdahl on September 13, 1922 on a farm by Nome, ND. When she was three months old, she moved with her parents to a farm near Madison, SD where she was raised and attended country school. She continued her education at the high school in Madison. After her high school graduation in 1940, she attended General Beadle State College in Madison for two years. Upon completion of her education, she taught in District 28 near Holland, MN. During this time, Carmen met Kyrwood Warner. On December 13, 1946, they were united in marriage in South Sioux City, NE. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed by Holland. After their retirement in 1978, they moved to Slayton, MN. Then, in 1991, they moved to Luverne, MN. They moved to Chancellor, SD on May 7, 2010 to live with their daughter and her husband. Carmen died at home on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the age of 97 and a half. Carmen was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pipestone, MN where she was active in the Ladies Aid and church circle. While living on the farm, she enjoyed raising a lot of chickens. She also enjoyed sewing. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Carol (Lester) Fincher, of Chancellor, SD; three granddaughters, Chrisa (Luke) Jarvi of Makinen, MN, Dana (Darren) Nelson of Brookings, SD and Resa (Jeremy) Kirchhevel of Sioux Falls, SD; seven great-grandchildren, Rosemarie and Rose Jarvi, Aryana, Ladd, Tagg, and Taylie Nelson, and Kiandra Kirchhevel; along with her nieces, nephews, and friends.
