David Kuck, 83,, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.

David's story began in 1940, and unfolded across the years that followed.

David spent his working life as ['Miller Structures'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

There is a discipline of duty that shapes a life long after the uniform is set aside.

David Kuck, 83 of Parker, passed away on June 29, 2023 at the VA Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe. Burial with Military Honors to follow the fellowship time on Thursday. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 Pm Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. David John Kuck was born April 30, 1940 to John Kuck and Elaine Morrison in Centerville, SD. He attended school in Centerville and Parker. He served in the US Navy. He married Lamara J. Marsh on August 7, 1964 at the Reformed Church in Monroe, SD. They lived mostly in Parker with a short time being in Sioux Falls. They raised 5 children together. He was a handyman and enjoyed woodworking or any project using his hands. He worked for Miller Structures, Parker School, Turner County Highway Department and Jordan Millwork. He made cemetery markers, was a volunteer driver at the VA Hospital, bred beagles, and loved to hunt & fish. He was the VFW Post Commander. Every August, he spent endless hours at the Turner County Fair to set up and run the BINGO stand and the military museum in Heritage Park. He loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially being able to hold them after being born. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 58 years, Lamara Kuck; children, Chuck (Shar) Kuck of Bridgewater, Todd Kuck of Mitchell, Tammy (Loren) Roth of Freeman; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way; 2 sisters and one brother; along with many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Terri Trautman and Ellen Kuck; great grandson Nathan Vaca; father John Kuck; mother Elaine Morrison; in laws Merrill and Leora Marsh; brother Keith Kuck; sisters Marjorie Fahy, Christal Larsen, Pamela Ream and Lori Bietz. hofmeisterjones.com
