Denise Fay Holmberg, 67, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Denise Fay Benning was born on January 30, 1945 at Parker, SD to Elijah and Adolphine (Schultz) Benning. After graduating from Parker High School in 1963 she was united in marriage to Lewis Holmberg on September 25, 1964 at Parker. She was employed as a nursing assistant at local long term care facilities throughout the years. They lived most of their married life in the Parker area and for 5 years lived in Arkansas. For the past few years she has been a resident of the Bridgewater Care Center. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Lewis, Sioux Falls; 2 children, Dennis, Marion and Lori, Sioux Falls; a granddaughter Alexis; 2 brothers Norman, Sioux Falls and Darold, Marion; and a sister Bernita Patrick, White. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Robert, a sister Fern, and brothers Bernard and Leonard.
