With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Ronald Hill, 82,.

These pages are a small offering toward a much larger life.

Ronald entered this world in 1941 — the start of a journey that would span 82 years.

There are stories only long lives can tell. We are grateful for his.

Ronald Hill, 82 of Davis, passed away at his home under hospice care on August 1, 2023. No services are planned at this time. Ronald Hill was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 8, 1941 to Norman and Ethel Hill. He joined the Marines at age 17 and moved to California. He married Janet Wuertz of Davis, SD, who had moved to California after college graduation. To this union they had two children, Larry and Scott. In 1990, Jan and Ron moved to South Dakota where Jan entered a nursing home in Lennox and Ron bought a farm near Davis. He learned a lot about farming quickly and tried to tell his neighbor Troi all about it. Janet passed away in 1999. Ron was active in the Davis American Legion and helped Howard Olson with Davis Winterstock Productions. He could be found every morning drinking coffee at Denny and Mary Smith's farm. He was very active until two months ago before he died of leukemia. Ron is survived by his sons Larry of Davis, SD, and Scott of California. He is preceded in death by his wife Janet, his parents Norman and Ethel Hill, three brothers Thomas, David, and Marvin, and in-laws Harry and Ruby Wuertz.
