It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Mary Ann Albers, 84, — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

What you read below is one part of a life lived with quiet purpose.

The story begins in 1933, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.

Mary held deeply to the Presbyterian faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Faith is the language some lives are written in. Mary's was one.

Mary Ann Albers, 83, of Lennox, passed away on March 13, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Lennox. Burial will follow at the Lennox Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Mary Ann Albers was born on July 25, 1933 to Mary and John VanLaar in Canton, SD. She was united in marriage to Albert Albers, Jr. on April 11, 1949. To this union, five children were born. They made their home in Lennox. Mary enjoyed family get-togethers, camping, fishing, and snowbirding in Yuma, Arizona. She loved gospel music and enjoyed jam sessions. Grateful for sharing her life are her daughters Betty (Ron) Heibult of Parker, Bonnie Hamersma of Sioux Falls, and Gail (Jerry) Carlson of Lennox; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Those to greet her in heaven are her husband Albert Albers, Jr.; sons Dennis and Richard; son-in-law David Hamersma; parents Mary and John VanLaar; sisters Helen Volsch, Gladys Severson, Margaret Amundson, and Rosie Konop; and a brother Albert VanLaar. She will be missed by many friends and family.
