After a life of love and quiet grace, Patricia Noordsy, 89, has passed.

A life remembered begins, simply, with the telling.

The story begins in 1925, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.

Patricia held deeply to the Presbyterian faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Some find their compass in faith. Patricia was among them.

Patricia Lee Rose Noordsy passed away January 9, 2015 at Green Hills Health Care, Ames, Iowa. Born December 8, 1925 in Junction City, Kansas to Keith and Audrey Rose, Patricia married John L. Noordsy on April 1, 1945 in Topeka, Kansas. The couple had three children and celebrated 66 years of marriage. While most of Pat's early life was spent in Kansas, she lived in Marion, South Dakota for 13 years where she raised her children and supported John in his veterinary medical practice. They moved to Manhattan, Kansas in 1960 where they lived for 46 years. During this time John taught at the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Pat was actively involved in college auxiliary activities. The couple returned to South Dakota in 2006 and resided at Trail Ridge Retirement Center in Sioux Falls. Pat lived the past three and a half years in Ames, Iowa. Family and friends were central to Pat's life. She was an active member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church of Marion for 13 years and the First Presbyterian Church of Manhattan, Kansas for 55 years. She greatly enjoyed her association with the ladies of the Nimble Club while living in Marion. She was an avid bridge player while in Manhattan as well as being involved in other social and volunteer groups. She and John enjoyed golfing, gardening, and travel, including regular visits to their children and grandchildren. Pat is survived by her three children, Tom Noordsy (Pat) of Sioux Falls, SD; Jill Guffy (Michael) of Ames, IA; Terry Noordsy (Vicki) of Elizabeth City, NC; her grandchildren, Chris Noordsy of Minot, ND, David Noordsy (Becky) of Brookings SD, Michael Noordsy (Gaea) of Sioux Falls, SD; Gretchen Guffy (Michael) of Washington, DC; Erik Guffy (Amy) of Des Moines, IA; Ryan Guffy of Los Angeles, CA; Chelsea Williamson (Brian) of Elizabeth City, NC; Mason Noordsy of Elizabeth City, NC; her brother V.B.
