After a life of love and quiet grace, Rusten Curtis Anderson, 24, has passed.
These few paragraphs cannot hold a life, but they may carry a memory.
Rusten entered this world in 1997 — the start of a journey that would span 24 years.
Rusten's years were fewer than we hoped, but no less full.
Rusten Curtis Anderson, 24 years old, of Scotland, SD, died June 24, 2021 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL due to complications from an accident. Rusten was born March 16, 1997 in Pensacola, FL the son of Jana (Steele) (Stepfather William) Sheppard and Rodney (Stepmother Natalie) Anderson. Rusten graduated from Viborg-Hurley High School in 2015 at Viborg, SD. A couple years after graduating High School, Rusten joined the Marines. He served from 2017 to 2020. Rusten was stationed in Hawaii and was deployed a few times around the world. In Rusten's spare time he enjoyed playing golf, weightlifting, hanging with friends, and lots of video gaming. He also loved spending time with his niece Tatum. Rusten was in the process of joining the VFW in Scotland, SD before the accident. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents William (Jack) and Randa Steele, an Aunt Kelli Steele, and a brother Richard Anderson. Surviving in addition to his parents, are sisters Kayla (Alex) Esche, Scotland, SD, Miranda (Lucas) Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD, and Storm Sheppard, Waverly, TN; Uncles and Aunts are, Russell Anderson, Hurley, SD, Shawn (Susan) Steele, Kenosha, WI, Tabitha Tabor, Waverly, TN; Grandparents are Robert (Mary) Anderson and Erma Anderson, and a niece Tatum Esche, Scotland, SD and many cousins. We will be having a service Saturday, July 31 st , 2021 at the Hurley Public School at 11:00 a.m., following service will be a lunch at the Hurley American Legion Hall. The service will be casual attire.
