What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.

The story begins in 1945, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.

Andrew spent his working life as ['different farmers'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

What Andrew gave his children, they will give to theirs.

Andrew "Andy" Dykshorn Andrew Dykshorn, 75 of Parker died Tuesday, August 31, 2021 after a long battle with COPD. Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Calvary Reformed Church in Monroe with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/HofmeisterJonesFuneralHome/ . In lieu of flowers memorials maybe directed to the Children's Home Society. Andrew J. Dykshorn was born on November 24, 1945 at Mitchell, SD to Andrew and Irene Hohn. He was the one of six children and he and two of his brothers were adopted by Charley and Katie Dykshorn. He grew up in the Harrison, SD area and was united in marriage to Marilyn Faye Muckey on March 5, 1965. God blessed them with three children, Michael, Lisa and Lana. They moved to Iowa where he worked for different farmers, also working at the creamery in Hull. They moved back to South Dakota where he attended trucking school and he was an over the road trucker for several years until he was forced to retire due to being diagnosed with COPD in 2001. He was an avid fisherman and liked working on cars. He was a longtime member of Calvary Reformed Church. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Marilyn,; 3 children, Michael (Rosie) Dykshorn, Parker, SD, Lisa DeBates, Sleepy Eye, MN and Lana Dykshorn, Chancellor, SD; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Mahoney, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by a sister Patricia and 3 brothers, Richard, James and Edward.
