Edna Borgers, 96, has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.

A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of her story.

Born in 1921, Edna began a life that would touch many along the way.

A long life leaves a long shadow of memory.

Edna G. Borgers, 96 of Marion died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Freeman Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the First Church of God, Marion with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-4pm Saturday at the Tieszen Home Chapel and from 6-8pm at the church. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Edna G. (Muller) Borgers was born on February 28, 1921 at Parker to Ewert and Dena (Brower) Muller. She attended Spring Valley District #5 school and was raised in McCook County, northeast of Monroe. On April 9, 1943 she was united in marriage to William Borgers at Marion. She was a member of the Church of God in Marion and taught Sunday School, member of Women Church God and Marion Senior Citizens. She was a past member of "Chorus and Bells" and several area clubs. She moved into Marion in 1977 following the death of her husband. Family gatherings were always a special time and remained very fond memories for her. Grateful for having shared her life are 2 children, Dennis (Sharon) Borgers, Marion and Jean (Eugene) Nachtigall, Hot Springs; a daughter in law, Rose Borgers, Channanhon, IL; 6 grandchildren, Lynn (Christi) Borgers, Gary (Cindy) Borgers, Bruce (Wendy) Nachtigall, Brett (Dana) Nachtigall, Larry (Gerlinda) Borgers, and Kristie Kargle; 2 step grandchildren, Candy (Mike) Stevens and Rob (Emily) Kumbier; 8 great grandchildren, Tyler and special friend Collett, Shelby, Sarah and William Borgers, Trey, Jaylen and Mandalyn Nachtigall, Hunter, Carter and Tanner Borgers, and Devin Kargle; 4 step great grandchildren, Paris, Legend and Halo Stevens and Axytn Kumbier; and a great great grandchild, Allison Kargle. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Larry, 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
